The Palm Springs Photo Festival is known for the exceptional quality of its portfolio review faculty. Now, for the second year – The Palm Springs Photo Festival, in concert with Photo District News, will present an exceptional three-day Portfolio Review for , during each day of the forthcoming PhotoPlus Expo to be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, October 25-27.
Nothing is more important than face-to-face meetings in a time when arranging to meet the people that could change your career can be next to impossible. Attending our Portfolio Review program represents an incredible opportunity to obtain valued feedback and critiques as well as the possibility of new assignments.
Those registered before October 12th will have a 100% even chance with all other pre-registered attendees to select their reviewer preferences!
If you don’t live there, don’t miss out! Plan your trip to New York City and spend three days meeting a huge cross-section of potential clients that you need to know. This event represents a fabulous opportunity to meet and present your work for critique and receive the advice of over 140 of the the industry’s top professionals. Over 1200 reviews will be available! At no other time can a photographer see such a cross-section of industry potential clients in a three-day period. If you’ve been considering coming to New York to show your work, this is your opportunity! Attendees can choose up to 30 reviews to maximize the benefits of showing work to such a concentration of potential clients / representatives in both the commercial and fine art arenas. An attendee could easily take 6 or 7 reviews in each block of each day if desired.

Attendees must have a website that substantiates their status as an emerging or professional photographer. We are not vetting the work, however, we have assured our reviewers that they’ll see work from practicing or emerging photographers only.

Here is how the Selection Process works:
All registrants will be offered the opportunity to select their preferences for portfolio reviews online beginning at 9:00am PDT (12:00 noon EDT) on Friday, October 12. All pre-registered attendees will have the exact same playing field from which to choose their reviews. No one can pre-select reviews ahead of you if you’re registered prior to October 12. Registered attendees will receive an email from us containing a link which will direct them to login, using their email address as user ID, and password. Then simply click on the link that appears to be directed to our Selection Pages. There, attendees can select their preferences for their review sessions. We recommend that attendees log in before that Friday morning simply to familiarize themselves with the process. We suggest studying the Reviewer Schedules on our website and jotting down choices. Then, on our Selection pages, simply select the date(s) desired, and scroll down to the names desired and click on the time slots for the reviewer’s name that suit. Each reviewer has agreed to a minimum of 6 review slots in most cases. Once attendees have reached the number of reviews selections they’ve registered for, they’ll be able to click on a Submit button and send us their preferences.

If you are pre-registered on or before October 12, we will use our best efforts to allocate at least 3 of your 5 top choices on the day(s) you indicate you’ll be able to attend. If you choose 10 reviews, we’ll do so for 6 of the 10, if you’ve chosen 15 we’ll do so for 9 of the 15, etc. If we’re unable to allocate all of your top choices, we’ll schedule you with comparable reviewers for the remaining reviews we’re unable to confirm. Being available for all three days will assure you the best possible chances to see all of your top choices but we have scheduled a wide range of reviews in each block for each day so there will be plenty of choices for each day. We will work within your availability to the best of our ability. Attendees will receive a confirmation from us listing their actual review schedule within 48 hours.
Once at the Javits, if an attendee has not arrived in time for their review, we’ll open that review up on a first-come-first-served basis.
We will have a special desk where attendees will be able to check their portfolios before or after their review(s) so that they can explore PhotoPlus Expo.
Our review blocks are scheduled on each of the three days as follows:
Block One: 9:00am – 11:25am [six 20-minute review segments]
Block Two: 11:40am – 2:05pm [six 20-minute review segments]
Block Three 2:20pm – 5:10pm [seven 20-minute segments]
